THIS is just amazing… I mean, I was pleasantly suprised to find that Yahoo! Canada does in fact have a CFL site! I’m a big fan their coverage of hockey so I thought it was pretty neat to see them cover the CFL. Then I clicked the link and saw this:
Not only does the huge blank white space suggest a plethora of investigatory journalism, but the American map complete with football texture really gives off the feeling that Yahoo! (sorry, I really enjoy any names that involve punctuation, Youppi! anyone?) is really is trying to cater to the needs of the CFL fan. Or maybe they’re just complacent about it, don’t care about the league, and just repost whatever Canadian Press articles they find and hope for random traffic? Yeah, maybe it’s the latter.
Well anyways, I think there is a place for finding out the official league news for signings and whatnot, but I would love to hear more from a fan’s perspective. We aren’t limited to local call-in radio to have our voices heard anymore thanks to the internet. Best of all, fans don’t have to care about being nice to somebody because they might want to get an interview the next day. Fans can be hilarious, sarcastic, slightly irrelevant, brutally honest, and immaturely entertaining. With all of that being said, welcome to my CFL blog.
I’m hoping that most importantly this little spot of the internet ends up being entertaining. Any feedback will be definitely appreciated, and with my schedule it is looking like early May is when the site is going to get the attention to really get set up and hopefully will be well rolling once the CFL preseason starts mid-June. If you’ve got an interest in CFL and somehow caught a hold of this website, I’d hope you bookmark and come back later.
Thanks,
Tony (fakepuntonfirst)
